While you can’t eliminate the possibility of cancer, there are steps that you can take to manage your risk of cancer, enhance the lives of cancer survivors and that may improve quality of life. Making healthy choices is good for everyone. Steps like eating right and exercising can help you maintain or achieve a healthier life.

Our risk for many types of cancer may be related to diet, physical activity and weight. For some common cancers, strong evidence shows that diet, weight and physical activity can raise or lower risk.

Not sure where to start? Here are a few tips that most of us can use to take better care of ourselves and chose that we care for:

  • Eating right — even small steps to improve what you eat and drink every day can benefit you
  • Exercising regularly — whether that means more steps, cardio or trips to the gym, everyone can benefit from a more physical activity
  • Eliminating or reducing tobacco use
  • Being skin smart
